Education & Future Scholars

Adome Lorika Foundation believes that every child in Moroto Municipality and across Karamoja deserves the opportunity to learn, grow and build a brighter future, regardless of their family’s economic circumstances. We work to reduce barriers that prevent vulnerable children and young people from accessing education, staying in school and progressing to higher levels of learning.

Our programme focuses on education support for vulnerable learners through scholarships and bursaries, essential school requirements, back-to-school campaigns, mentorship, career guidance, digital learning and school-based innovation initiatives. We aim to help learners overcome financial and social barriers, develop their potential and acquire the knowledge, confidence and skills needed to contribute meaningfully to their families and communities.

Beyond keeping children in school, we want to connect education with opportunity. By strengthening learners’ academic foundations, promoting digital literacy, encouraging leadership and supporting informed career choices, we seek to prepare a generation of educated, skilled and responsible citizens who can contribute to Karamoja’s social and economic transformation.

Our Target Education Outcomes

Through funded projects and partnerships, we aim to achieve measurable results such as:

  • Improved access to education: Support vulnerable children and young people with school requirements, bursaries and other appropriate forms of educational assistance.
  • Better school retention: Help participating learners remain enrolled and attend school by addressing identified barriers to education.
  • Improved learning progression: Track learners’ transition to the next class, completion of key education stages and progression to further education or vocational training.
  • Career readiness: Provide mentorship, career guidance, leadership development and exposure to further education and employment pathways.
  • Digital and innovation skills: Expand opportunities for learners to develop digital literacy, problem-solving and practical skills.
  • Community participation: Work with parents, schools and local stakeholders to encourage education for vulnerable children, including girls and learners from disadvantaged households.

Proposed Four Year Education Targets

Subject to funding, needs assessments and implementation capacity, the Foundation could work towards these indicative targets:

  • 500 vulnerable learners supported with scholarships, bursaries or essential school requirements.
  • 1,000 learners reached through education awareness and back-to-school initiatives.
  • 300 learners participating in mentorship, career guidance, leadership or digital learning activities.
  • 50 teachers, school leaders or community education stakeholders engaged in activities that strengthen learner support and retention.
  • At least 80% of supported learners remaining enrolled at the end of each academic year, subject to baseline assessment and reliable school records.
  • 100% of supported learners tracked through a basic monitoring system to document attendance, retention, progression and support received.

These figures are proposed targets, not completed achievements. Final targets will depend on available funding, verified community needs and programme design.
